Doula Services

BKBC works from the assumption that birthing people and their families need open-hearted, community-centered support. To this end, we offer a range of options for people looking for doula care, childbirth education, lactation services, and bodywork.

As birth doulas, we attend all different sorts of births—at home and in the hospital or birthing center, low and high risk, unmedicated and medicated, cesareans, inductions, water births, and everything in between. Combining our interests in education and evidence-based care with a trust in birthing parents’ abilities to make the best decisions for their bodies and babies, we work to make sure that our clients know the options available to them and then support their choices, without judgement. At births, we rely on physical and emotional support, positivity, and careful listening to make sure parents feel safe and taken care of. In order to help clients ground, relax, and gather strength in labor, we use movement, breathing, massage, stretching, visualization, and other techniques.

As postpartum doulas, we offer resources on everything from lactation and nursing to sleep, healing, babywearing, and newborn care. We make sure that a baby’s parents are nourished, rested, and supported so that they can better enjoy (and remember!) the early postpartum days when they’re most likely to be stretched thin. To this end, we help around the house, offer tips and ideas for keeping everyone safe and comfortable, prep and prepare meals, and help with sibling care, working with families to figure out routines that work for them. We offer daytime support as well as overnights.

We strive to make our support as accessible as possible. To this end, we are expanding our sliding scale offerings; if you have budgetary constraints, let us know, and we’ll try to make it work!

We offer sliding scale services to BIPOC families, single parents, those who are unemployed or underemployed, and other marginalized communities. We also accept payment via HSA/FSA.
